No matter if you live in a house built at the beginning of the last century or in an ultra-contemporary apartment building, there are always ways to make your home look more modern and sophisticated. You can choose from area rugs and chrome light switches to mirrors, plants and wall art. There are so many ways to upgrade your home interior fast and easy. If you lack time or money to do everything at once, you can get all these things one at a time. Alternatively, you can update a single room at once. Below you can find some interesting ideas for your adobe.
Blinds Instead of Curtains
Curtains are thing of the past. Simple black and white blinds will make your home look fabulous. Get rid of old curtains and blinds that only collect dust and dirt. Replace curtains for blinds everywhere in the house but in the bedroom. You need some privacy at least there.
Large mirrors serve two purposes when ti comes to decorating. First they make a place look larger than it actually is. Second, it can make any room look more modern. However, mirrors are expensive but don’t despair. If you are persistent you will be able to find one at a reasonable price. Remember that sometimes a frame can double the price of your purchase!
Hand art on the walls. You don’t have to spend money on expensive stuff. Hunt thrift shops and flea markets for hidden treasuries. I have found a couple of magnificent paintings walking around second-hand and antique shops.
Plants are excellent details to any interior. If you have the time and proper conditions a large plant can become your friend instantly. It will take care for the air quality in the room and who knows, it might turn out to be the centre piece in the living room.
Chrome Light Switches and Fixtures
Chrome details and ornaments are for those of you who prefer sleek, modern designs. If you like traditional, warm settings chrome is not for you. You can have chrome fixtures, switches, cabinet handles and even countertops!
No matter if you enjoy down lights in your home. A modern, chrome lamp can do miracles for the interior. Another effective solutions is to go for glass lamps which can add a bit of drama in the interior.
Rugs Instead of Wall-to-Wall Carpet
Carpets are so last century home furnishing. They were highly popular in the 70s and 80s with the boom of synthetic fibres, but today they are a thing from the past. I can’t deny carpets are nice and functional but as far a I’m concerned they’re done when it comes to decorating. Look into rugs instead. First, they offer a great flexibility when decorating your place – there is an abundance of size, colour and shape. Black, red, white or even zebra stripped are available now. Second, rugs are more practical than carpets. Cleaning a rug, provided that it’s machine washable is piece of cake. Try to put your wall-to-wall carpet with the rest of the laundry – I don’t think so. If you want to clean your carpet, you have no other choice but to call a professional cleaning company.
